A Non-Governmental Organization, Young Patriots’ Association of Nigeria (YPAN), Kwara State Chapter, has expressed its readiness to partner with the government to address the issue of poverty in the state.
The Coordinator of the Group, Comrade Salahudeen Lukman, during separate meetings with the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Saadat Modibbo Kawu; and her Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs counterpart, Arch. Saifudeen Muhammad, on Tuesday, said this was a major area the current administration had chosen to address.
While presenting a proposal for collaboration on entrepreneurship and vocational skills for youths, Lukman said the program is targeted at the 16 local government, and 16 beneficiaries would be selected to learn 7 vocational skills across the state.
Oh her part, while responding, Hajia Saadat Modibbo Kawu appreciated the efforts of the association in reaching out to the ministry for collaboration in eradicating poverty and solving unemployment.
Meanwhile, Arch. Saifudeen Muhammad, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, reacting to the proposal, assured the association of his ministry’s support on the project as this is inline with the vision of the present administration.
He revealed that the Governor has directed all Ministries to partner with organizations who are into human capital development and youth empowerment.
Muhammad, however, noted that no government would invest in projects that does not have level of commitment as this would amount to waste of money as the government is trying to be prudent enough with funds due to the current economic situation.
