To alleviate the hardship on Kwara residents occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kwara State government has granted tax reliefs to taxpayers in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service, Shade Omoniyi, disclosed this in a press release issued to journalists on Friday, stating that the Government has approved tax waivers to lessen the financial burden on residents.

According to her, some of the waivers include; “Extension of deadlines for filing Annual Returns from 31st March till 30th September 2020.

“Granting of 30% discount/waiver on arrears on ground rent and land charge for property owners from 1st April till 30th September 2020.

“Donation of palliatives and granting of Moratorium to members of the Informal Sector from 1st May till 30th June 2020.

“Suspension of all enforcement activities on Tax Defaulters in all major sectors and property owners from 1st April till 30th September 2020 and donation of PPEs to taxpayers and staff to cushion the Pandemic effect.”
