Trader bagged 3 months imprisonment over theft of car batteries, LG tv

A 21-year-old trader, Abdullahi Ibrahim, was on Monday sentenced to three months imprisonment over theft of car batteries and LG television.

He was sentenced by an Area Court sitting in Jos.

Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who constituted the panel of two magistrates sentenced Ibrahim to three months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty.

They have however given him an option to make a payment of N20,000 fine.

The court established that the judgment would serve as lesson to those who who would want to involve themselves in such criminal acts.

Earlier, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, who’s the Prosecution Counsel, Informed the court that the matter was in Oct. 13 brought to the awareness of law enforcement agency at the “C” Division Police station by the complainant, Lawan Nayahaya residing at Sarkin Mangu street, Jos.

The prosecutor also said that the convict invaded shop of the complainant and dispossesed him of goods worth N130,000.

The Prosecutor also said the offence was in contravention of sections 332 and 272 of the Plateau Penal Code law.
