Respect citizens’ rights, Kwara CP tells officers as he commissions renovated Oja-Oba ‘C’ division
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, has charged officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force to uphold the fundamental rights of citizens while discharging their duties, urging them to reciprocate improved working conditions with greater professionalism, discipline and responsiveness.
The police commissioner gave the charge on Friday during the commissioning of the renovated ‘C’ Division Police Station in Oja-Oba, Ilorin, following a comprehensive facelift of the facility aimed at providing a more conducive environment for effective policing and improved service delivery.
Speaking at the event, CP Adekimi said the upgraded facility should translate into better policing outcomes and enhanced public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
He described the transformation of the station as a testament to the importance of police-community partnership in strengthening security and improving policing infrastructure across the state.
The commissioner commended the Divisional Police Officer of the station, DSP Saliu Abdulganiyu Kayode, alongside members of the community and other individuals whose support made the renovation possible.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, particularly in promoting professionalism, community partnership and public trust.
The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Prof. Alhaji Usman Atolagbe Abubakar Jos, attended the commissioning alongside senior police officers, traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
In his remarks, the DPO, DSP Kayode, thanked the commissioner for the confidence reposed in him and appreciated members of the community for their cooperation and support towards the successful renovation of the division.
The command also presented Police Ambassador Awards to individuals recognised for their contributions to policing and community safety. The recipients included Alhaji Hassan Ibrahim Sanni, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Shelter Setters Aluminium; Most Special Apostle Chief Oluwole Awotunyi of Tuyil Pharmaceutical Limited; Alhaji Haheem Alubarika Olohunkemi Arademi, proprietor of Neemar Raheem International School, Ilorin; Otunba Taofeeq Abefe Azeez Bello, chairman of Solid Worth Hotel and Suite; Alhaji Abdulwahab Adetayo Hassan; and DSP Saliu Abdulganiyu Kayode.
According to the command, the awards were in recognition of the recipients’ support for security initiatives and their contributions to strengthening cooperation between the police and the communities they serve.
