Timipre Sylva resigns as petroleum minister

The minister of state for petroleum resources, Chief Timipre Sylva on Friday March 31, 2023 tendered his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.

This came following the minister’s declaration of intent to contest in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in April.

The Informant247 recalls that Sylva had served as the Governor of Bayelsa State for one term, which makes him have another constitutional opportunity to contest for another tenure in the state.

The spokesperson to the minister, Horatius Egua said he could not confirm or deny the development.

He said he has not set his eyes on the resignation letter or got an official update on the minister’s resignation.
