Opinion | Building more than structures: Ilias Sanni’s legacy of community and compassion

A life of service, rooted in Kwara.

Ilias Sanni, a native of Okesuna Ojagboro in Ilorin East Local Government Area, is an accomplished architect, community leader, and passionate advocate for sustainable development in Kwara State. With a strong foundation in architecture, project management, and public service, he is committed to delivering practical solutions and advancing a clear, people-centered vision for progress.

His professional experience spans architectural design, project execution, and technical support. He has contributed to impactful initiatives with UNICEF and served as Programming Support Staff at Joint Komputer Kompany. He is also an active member of Opomulero Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit, non-political organization focused on helping individuals discover and develop their life purpose. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Sailom Concept Limited.

Driven by a passion for community development, Ilias has championed and supported the development of essential infrastructure across Kwara State, including schools, healthcare facilities, and residential projects.

His leadership extends deeply into grassroots engagement. He currently serves as Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) at Okesuna LGEA Primary School, Ilorin (2023–present), President of the Zango Ward Youth Development Association (2023–present), and Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) for Zango Ward Primary Health Care (since July 2024).

He previously served as the Pioneer Chairman of The Youth Movement, Okesuna/Ojagboro (2014–2022), and continues to play key roles as Chairman of The Youth Movement Cooperative (since 2021), and as a member of the Balogun Gambari Development Association (since 2022), Balogun Gambari Youth Movement (since 2019), and the Okesuna Islamic Endowment Foundation.

Ilias is also the founder of the HAMZ-KHAL Charity Initiative, a platform dedicated to community upliftment and social impact.

HAMZ-KHAL Charity Initiative envisions a society where everyone has equal access to education, empowerment, and opportunity. The initiative supports the less privileged, widows, and vulnerable people through scholarships, empowerment programs, and sustainable charitable interventions.

Through his professional expertise and unwavering dedication to service, Ilias Sanni remains committed to building stronger communities and shaping a more prosperous future for Kwara State.

His vision is to see a progressive, inclusive, and economically empowered Kwara State where infrastructure is modern, communities are developed, and every citizen has equal access to opportunities, education, and quality public services.

His mission is to deliver effective representation, drive community development, and promote sustainable growth through people-focused policies and grassroots engagement.

Results delivered, not promises rehearsed. From managing complex projects to leading community initiatives, Ilias delivers real progress and understands what it takes to move Kwara forward.

He has led and contributed to UNICEF-linked development initiatives, served as Ward Collation Agent for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zango Ward, Ilorin East, Kwara State, overseeing the collation and verification of election results, and delivered architectural designs for schools, hospitals, and residential infrastructure across Kwara.

He has also chaired Ward Development Committees, aligning projects with community needs, led youth groups and local associations in mobilising grassroots action, founded and leads Sailom Concept Limited, delivering complex projects on time, and remains a key member of the Opomulero Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit helping people discover and develop their purpose in life.

In addition, he served as Programming Support Staff at Joint Komputer Kompany, bridging technology and public service.
