Onilupeju of Ilupeju, Oba Muhammad Akande Odunade, dies

His Royal Highness, Oba Muhammad Akande Olarewaju Odunade, the Onilupeju of Ilupeju in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has died.

The monarch reportedly joined his ancestors on Saturday, bringing to an end a reign remembered for its commitment to peace, unity and community development.

The death of the traditional ruler was announced in a statement issued on behalf of the Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf.

The statement described the late monarch as a respected royal father whose leadership, wisdom and dedication contributed significantly to the growth and progress of Ilupeju community.

Reacting to the development, Yusuf expressed sadness over the monarch’s demise, describing it as a great loss to the traditional institution, the people of Ilupeju and the entire Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The council chairman said the late royal father would be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people and his efforts towards sustaining peace and harmony in the community.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased monarch and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.

Yusuf also extended his condolences to the royal family, traditional rulers and the people of Ilupeju over the loss.
