The Convener of Concerned Ilorin West West Stakeholders for Kwara Central Senator, Hon. Abdulhamid Oladipupo Alli, popularly known as ‘Mr. Nigeria’ has alleged that his life is under threat for addressing a press conference last week wherein he called for power shift from Ilorin West Local Government Area to other marginalized local government areas in the Ilorin Emirate.
In a letter to the Kwara State commissioner of police, which was dated April 22, Alli noted that his group, a political body charged with the responsibility of ensuring equity and fair distribution of political positions in the Ilorin Emirate, addressed the conference in a good faith.
According to him, the group only exercised its freedom of speech by addressing a press conference on the need to shift the Senatorial slot from the Ilorin West Local Government, which has been occupying it from 1979, to the llorin South/ilorin East Local Government areas.
He further stated that the press conference had unsettled some quarters and drawn threats from people linked to the incumbent Senator representing the district, Ibrahim Oloriegbe.
“Meanwhile, we would like to officially report one of the aides of Senator Oloriegbe named Wule Olohunoje, who put a call through in the early hour of Friday 22nd April, 2022, at about 4:38am, to start insulting and threatening us for calling on the shift of Senatorial base to the Local Government Areas of our fellow Emirate brothers.”
He said the threat was so enormous and fearful that he had to inform some elders in her family, ward Chairman and Alore Zonal Chairman.
Alli also suspected that the accused person is trailing him and other members of the group, citing an altercation on Friday.
“As if to make do her threat, we suspected that she knew about a car which was tailing our movement around Maraba on our way to Fate immediately after Subuhi prayers on Friday 22nd April 2022.
The vehicle actually stopped to block us from continuing our journey on two occasion which forced us to call the 21/C of the State SIB, DSP SADIK to report the threatening movement to him and later few other friends immediately after they left as we were forced to leave our in the front of FCMB for a while before gaining consciousness back.”
He, however, urged the police commissioner to conduct proper investigation on this life-threatening report.
All efforts to reach the lawmaker for his comment proved abortive as our reporter reliably gathered that he’s currently on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
