Kale Kawu: Ali Ahmad thanks Saraki, says time to return PDP back to winning ways

Former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Prof. Ali Ahmad, has expressed appreciation to former Senate President Bukola Saraki following the emergence of Kale Kawu as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.

Ahmad, who was among the aspirants involved in the consensus arrangement announced by Saraki on Saturday, said the party must now move beyond the selection process and focus on rebuilding the PDP for victory.

Reacting in a tweet posted shortly after Saraki’s message to him on Sunday, Ahmad thanked the former Senate President for his leadership and pledged commitment to the next phase of the party’s political strategy.

“Thank You, My Leader.

“It is time to get to work, as we are ready to move on with the Post-consensus process and return PDP to winning ways.

“The journey starts now,” Ahmad wrote.

The former lawmaker’s response came hours after Saraki publicly commended him for accepting the consensus decision in the interest of party unity.

Saraki had described Ahmad’s action as a demonstration of selflessness, maturity and responsibility, noting that he once again chose the larger interest of the PDP above personal ambition.

The PDP leader also assured Ahmad that his experience and contributions would continue to play a vital role in the party’s future in Kwara State.

Kale Kawu emerged as the PDP’s consensus governorship candidate after consultations among party stakeholders and aspirants, a move party leaders say is aimed at strengthening internal unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
