The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Ilorin South Constituency, Hajia Maryam Yusuf Aladi has reiterated the need for unity and peace among the people, especially at the grassroots as the campaign for the 2023 General Elections commences.
Aladi stated this while receiving the planning committee of the inter-ward football tournament for Ilorin South.
According to her, she sponsored the Tournament in order to promote peace at the grassroots level, especially among the youths.
“When someone brought up the idea of a football competition among the youths across the eleven wards that made up Ilorin South Constituency, I immediately embraced it because I see the potential of using such initiative to drive unity and peaceful coexistence among the people, especially the youths,” she expressed.
She noted that her interest in supporting anything that will reinforce peace in Kwara was because of her belief that everyone needs to support the efforts of the Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reposition the State for rapid growth.
She said, “I know that there can be no development without peace. This is, therefore, my own way of fostering unity and peace, especially during this electioneering period. I hope the love and camaraderie reflected all through the period of the competition between all teams and players across the wards will continue through and beyond the election.”
Meanwhile, the semi finals of the game has been slated for Saturday, 1st and Monday, 3rd October, 2022 at St. Michael School, Taiwo Isale Ilorin. The time of kickoff on both days is 4:00PM at the same venue.
The finals, which would come up on a yet to be announced date, is expected to be graced by dignitaries, including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other APC big wigs.
