Reno Omokri, a socio-political commentator, has given an explanation for the money (millions of Naira) that was refunded by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Informant247 learnt that the national leadership of the party had been alleged for bribery.
The controversial sociopolitical commentator has described the funds as housing allowance.
The Informant247 observes that some members of the party, under the leadership of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu had refunded money totalling over N122 million earlier sent to their bank accounts.
Among the members of the NWC who refunded the earlier diverted funds are Olasoji Adagunodo, the National Vice Chairman (South-West), Prof. Stella Affah-Attoe, the National Women Leader, Taofeek Arapaja, the Deputy National Chairman (South) and Chief Dan Orbih the National Vice Chairman (South).
The Informant247 gathered that the development came following the media outbursts by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike raised against the Chairman of the party, Ayu.
The Informant247 also gathered that the Governor had accused Ayu of collecting N1 billion from an unidentified presidential aspirant.
Reno, who’s a staunch campaigner of the party’s presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, explained that nothing was wrong with money forwarded to the members of the NWC.
He wrote, “You are given a letter of appointment that comes with a list of entitlements, one of which is housing allowance.
“Does it make sense for the Peoples Democratic Party to ask people to move from their bases all over the country to work for the party and then not pay them housing allowances?”
Omokri has alleged those working for the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, of intentionally unveiling those reports to blackmail the opposition party and divert the attention of members of the public from alleged ill-health of Tinubu.
“The non story of monies paid to PDP NWC members was released by The Nation. This is a coordinated release to divert the public’s attention from Tinubu’s catheter photo mistakenly unveiled today in an own goal by his aides,” he added.
