Governor had returned the bill to the Kwara State House of Assembly – Source
It has been two days since the 30 day ultimatum the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Abdurrahman Abdurrazaq had to assent to the Freedom of Information Bill elapsed, and the governor has been maintaining a tight lip as no official statement has been released through his media office or other channel. It is against the background THEINFORMANT247 had an exclusive interview with the founder and convener of the Ilorin-based civil society, Elite Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) that sponsored the bill, Dr. Abdullateef Alagbonsi.
Dr. Alagbonsi, in his statement disclosed ENetSuD as organisation craving a better Kwara for all and sundry learnt that the the 30 day deadline which the Governor had to domesticate the FOI BILL has expired, assuring that ENetSuD is poised to approach the Kwara State House of Assembly for further interrogation as to why the bill is being delayed.
The founder of ENetSuD expressed optimism over the Governor’s disposition to assent to the bill soon.
A source close to the Governor also weighed in on the issue noting that the Governor had returned the bill to the Kwara State House of Assembly to amend some controversial clauses and address the inconsistencies inherent in the bill. He also revealed that the Kwara State House of Assembly would duly inform the public on progress made so far.
