The recently enthroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero II has arrived in Ilorin in what is regarded as a courteous visit to his maternal ancestral home.
The Emir’s chartered flight arrived the airport at exactly 1:45pm and he was accompanied by traditional chiefs.
The visit to the Emir of Ilorin, who doubles as his maternal cousin however, is the Emir’s first visit to any traditional leader since his ascension to the royal throne.
The top traditional ruler who is the 15th Emir of Kano ascended the throne on March 9, 2020 following the controversial deposition of Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano.
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who is on a 3-day official visit to the city of Sheikh Alimi was welcomed amidst funfare and mammoth crowd at the Ilorin international airport.
The Emir was welcomed by several creme de la creme of the Ilorin Emirates and topmost among them are: Wazirin Hausawa, Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, Danmasani of Ilorin, Engr. Sulaimon Yahaya Alapansanpa, Former Grand Khadi, Justice Idris Abdulllahi Haroon.
Others are: Imam Gambari, Imam Imole, Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Arc. Saifudeen Muhammed, amongst others.
From the airport, cultural dancers, and drummers gave the visiting Emir a taste of Ilorin culture with sonorous to give him a befitting welcome.
Part of the colorful reception was the assembly of several horse riders with well decorated horses at the Queen Elizabeth school.
The Emir who rode on a well decorated horse chariot from General hospital, Ilorin to the Emir of Ilorin palace was received by the Emir Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, OFR and several other dignitaries and notables sons of Ilorin at exactly 3:45pm.
Other royal heads who were also in attendance to pay reverence to the Emir include: Emir of Patigi, Emir of Tsaragi and many more.
Prayer session was conducted by both Chief Imam of Ilorin Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Soliu Basheer and Chief Imam of Kano.
