Lekki, Lagos, was shrouded in tension on Thursday night as police officers responded to a gathering of mourners and sympathizers who had assembled to pay tribute and seek justice for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The candlelight procession, organized to honor the memory of Mohbad, took a distressing turn as it was attended by numerous fans, friends, and fellow musicians.
However, the gathering faced a police response aimed at dispersing the crowd, resulting in reports of injuries among the attendees.
Mohbad’s untimely death last Tuesday has raised concerns and led to speculation. Some have pointed fingers at the owner of Marlian Record Label, Afeez Fashola, professionally known as Naira Marley.
Furthermore, allegations and counter-allegations regarding the singer’s estate have arisen among his distant relatives in the wake of his passing.
In response to the mounting questions and uncertainties surrounding Mohbad’s demise, both the Nigeria police and the Lagos police command have expressed their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had also called for the involvement of the Department of State Service (DSS) in the investigation.
