Buhari reacts to Ondo church attack
President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken against the attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
The Nigerian leader while condemning the act said darkness will never overcome the light.
Recall that some suspected terrorists have launched a massive attack on the church on Sunday, killed many worshippers and left several others with various degrees of injuries.
Shortly after the sad incident, the number one citizen of the country said the country will never bow for the dictates of the evil and wicked people.
In a statement made available by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesman, Buhari was quoted as saying, “No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome the light. Nigeria will eventually win”.
The President, has said that eternal sorrow was on to those who perpetrated the act, here on earth and life hereafter.
The commander-in-chief has mourned the victims, condoled with the victims’ families, the church, and Ondo State government.
The president has also ordered emergency agencies to occupy the affected area and provide needed assistance to the wounded.
The Informant247 had reported that the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has expressed unhappiness over Sunday’s attack at the church, referring to it as black Sunday and declared that masterminders of the assault would be hunt down.
He made this revelation via a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.
“It is a black Sunday in Owo. Our hearts are heavy. Our peace and tranquility have been attacked by the enemies of the people. This is a personal loss, an attack on our dear state,” Governor Akeredolu said.
