Osinbajo leads FEC meeting, observes a minute silence for ex-minister of justice, Bola Ajibola

The Nigerian Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday April 12 presided over the meeting of the federal executive council (FEC) in Aso Villa, Abuja.

The vice president is replacing President Muhammadu Buhari, the presiding officer of the meeting, who is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia.

The Informant247 also learned that the president would also perform Islamic pilgrimage, Umrah in Saudi Arabia.

Before they began the meeting, the secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha formally informed the FEC about the death of the former attorney general of the federation AGF and minister of justice, Bola Ajibola.

The FEC observed one minute silence to honour the former legal luminary.

The Informant247 earlier reported that Ajibola passed away at the age of 89.

His death was confirmed by a family source who revealed that the former justice minister died on Sunday April 9.

The family source wrote: “Asalamaleikun. With very deep heart and gratitude to Almighty Allah… Our Dad Prince Bola Ajibola departed this world over the midnight.”

“May Almighty Allah bless him with Aljanah firdaus.”

The Informant247 recalls that Ajibola was the minister of justice from 1985 to 1991 under the Ibrahim Babangida’s military government.

He served as a judge of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Holland from 1991 to 1994.

From 1999 to 2002, he also served as the high commissioner of Nigeria to the United Kingdom, UK. from 1999 to 2002.

He was also the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for one-year tenure.

He founded the Crescent University, Abeokuta, at the capital of Ogun state.

The passing of Ajibola came seven years after he lost his wife, Olufunmilayo in London.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the passing of the former minister of justice.

The Nigerian leader sympathized with the family of the respected legal luminary and legal community in the country and across the world.

He said the Senior Advocate of Nigeria used his natural talent to pursue fairness, justice and equity in all his dealings within the country and beyond.

The president said the deceased lawyer used his office as the attorney general of the federation to develop the country.

Buhari also sympathized with the people and government of Ogun State, the deceased jurist’s home state.
