The police command in Lagos State, on Wednesday arrested and kept in detention an Inspector of Police in the Ajah Division for taking the life of a man, Gafaru Buraimoh.
It was gathered that the victim was living in Happy Land Estate, Ajah.
The spokesperson of the police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the incident, in a statement said: “full-scale investigation” had begun into the incident.
He added that the incident happened around 11.30 pm, Tuesday.
The image maker of the police command also noted that the police officer who carried out the crime was “immediately disarmed and has been detained.”
The statement partly reads: “The officer behind the shooting, an Inspector of Police, was immediately disarmed and has been detained, as full-scale investigation has commenced.
“The Lagos State Police Command through the Area Commander, Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah has since notified and established contact with the family.
“The Command, while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, gives assurances that the already commenced investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be brought to a speedy and conclusive end, while equally ensuring that justice is served.”
