Adeleke vs Oyetola: Supreme Court set to give judgment on Tuesday May 8

The Supreme Court in Abuja has scheduled the judgment on the July 16 governorship election in Osun State for Tuesday May 8.

John Okoro led five member panel of justices earlier scheduled the judgement for Monday following an adoption of written briefs by all concerned parties.

The election tribunal, January maintained that the immediate past Governor of the state Adegboyega Oyetola was able prove that some polling units suffered over voting during the election.

The tribunal directed the electoral commission to retrieve certificate of return earlier given to Governor Ademola Adeleke and present a new one to Oyetola.

The Governor of the state, Adeleke who was not comfortable with the outcome of the election decided to appeal the judgment.

A Court of Appeal in Abuja on March 24, quashed the verdict of the tribunal and declared Adeleke the authentic winner of the Osun governorship election.
