Two escaped as gunmen abduct Abia varsity students – The Informant247 Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped students of Abia State University, Uturu shortly after they ambushed them while journeying on a bus along Okigwe-Uturu Road. The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 300-level student of Accounting at the Niger Delta University, African Innocent for alleged murder of his fellow student, James Okunmakpeye, at a lecture hall on Wednesday. A 25-year-old Nigerian, Unachukwu Chiluba Paulinus has been sentenced to death by a Vietnamese court for transporting nearly three kilograms of methamphetamine from Cambodia into Vietnam. Officials of the Oyo State chapter of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun, have intercepted a truck loaded with gunmen suspected to be herdsmen heading to Igangan community in the recently troubled Ibarapa area of the state, a report by Sahara Reporter said. The Kwara State Government on Friday extended the timeline for the teaching online jobs applications till January 27. This was contained in a statement posted on the verified Facebook page of the state government. The statement said the decision to extend the timeline was taken in order to allow more eligible qualified candidates to apply. The total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Kwara State has reached 1596, THE INFORMANT247 reports. This is as no fewer than 34 patients have died of coronavirus-related complications in the state. The state currently has 180 active cases while 1382 patients have recovered. Meanwhile, it however awaits the result of 407 more samples taken to the state NCDC designated centres for novel coronavirus tests.
