The Zamfara State chapter of the Trade Union Congress and Nigeria Labour Congress, have both lamented the untold hardship faced by the workers due to the nonpayment of salaries in two months by the state government.
The Informant247 gathered in a joint communique by the Chairmen of the two bodies, NLC and TUC, Sani Halliru and Saidu Mudi, saying the state governor, Bello Matawalle, has not paid salaries for two months, while describing the action as a condemnable and nonchalant attitude of the state government towards the State workers.
It could be recalled that the governor, had promised to offset all outstanding salary arrears during the May Day celebration.
Meanwhile, the statement stated that after patiently waiting for the salary to be paid, the two labour centres, therefore, as a matter of responsibility, requested the state government to save the lives of workers and their families with immediate effect.
“Series of issues prevailed, and meetings were vigorously held in respect of the above subject matter involving all the stakeholders on the best way to handle the matter with maturity and understanding between the state government and two labour unions,” it said.
