The Kwara State Government says the “work from home” directive still subsisting in the state civil service is not a guaranty for absenteeism, explaining that staff could be assigned responsibility at any time required.
It threatened to penalise anyone that breach the rule.
The State Head of Service (HOS), Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, disclosed this during a special interactive session with professional directors in the state civil service in Ilorin, on Thursday
She said the government is disturbed by the lackluster attitude of official responsibilities by workers, particularly since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, directing all directors in the state ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to make a monthly submission of their respective duties and functions.
She explained that the initiative would enable the government to make a proper assessment of all the directorates to identify the active, those performing below expectation and the constraints.
Oluwole lamented that the impression being created about the public service was not encouraging despite the government’s effort at invigorating service delivery in the state.
The HOS thus, enjoined the directors to be abreast with the public service rules and procedures to be better guided in handling and relating with their staff and issues brought before them.
