About 500 students drawn from schools in Kwara State have been trained in entrepreneurship and leadership in Ilorin.
The programme, organised by the Kayode Alabi Leadership and Career Initiative, has professionals mentoring the students.
The foundation’s director of media and communication, Olatunji Hassan Taiye, stated that apart from the 500 students that were trained, another batch of students from rural communities would undergo training in its forthcoming Skill2Rural Bootcamp programme.
He said, “GDSS Fate, Ilorin has a history with us since KLCI kick-started in Kwara state, so, the team went for monitoring and evaluation on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Also, the team collaborated with the students teachers in the school to train the students on Project LECT (Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Career Training). We are currently working with the students teachers to scale our impact in GDSS Fate, Ilorin.
“Unrelenting, the team had a good time with the students of Taoheed Secondary school as they trained them on leadership, entrepreneurship, and character training on June 30, 2021. The students were taught the concept of entrepreneurship, problem identification process, monetizing solutions to problems, and marketing solutions.
“On July 2, 2021, the team visited GSS Ilorin to train them on PROJECT LECT. The students were divided into groups according to PROJECT LECT categories: Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Character Training.
“Further, the team met with Principals and other necessary authorities on the need to implement the already created categories and explained the essence of incorporating PROJECT LECT into school extra-curriculum.”
