Anthony Joshua has reportedly employed a new trainer as he seeks for a renewed vigour and good reputation within the ring in the new year.
The Briton departed his last tutor Coach Robert Garcia after failing to win his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
Earlier he had split with his long-time mentor,Robert McCracken who had trained him for a large part of his career until his 2021 loss to Usyk.
Denrick James who is based in the USA is now the new Coach for Anthony Joshua.The 33-year-old was pictured in James’ gym last month.
James, a former unified heavyweight world champion was widely regarded as 2022’s Trainer of the Year after leading Errol Spence, welterweight world champion and Jermell Charlo, undisputed light middleweight world champion to unification victories.
He was also once voted Trainer of the Year by The Ring magazine in 2017, and by the Yahoo Sports
No Smoke Boxing reported that Joshua had agreed on a new partnership with James following trial sessions in the United States in recent months.
Currently the only trainer in the sport who coaches two multi world title holders, both of whom enjoyed successful years in 2022, he also boasts of a modest fighting career after retiring with a professional record of 27-7-1- though never managed to scoop any major titles.
