Residents of Labarana rice mills area in Birnin Kebbi on Monday woke up to the news of the merciless killing of a 25-year-old housewife Sadiyya Idris and her 4-year-old daughter.
The deceased father, Malam Idris while addressing government officials who paid the family a condolence visit said, “when I and my relatives came we saw our daughter and our granddaughter in a pool of blood, lifeless, nothing was missing and no traces of the murderers, we want justice for our gruesomely murdered daughter.”
He added that he had given detailed information about the ugly scenario to the deputy governor of Kebbi state, Colonel Samaila Yombe (rtd) and Wazirin Gwandu Abdullahi Umar who had also paid a condolence visit to the house of the deceased.
He said the sad news reached him around 5 am that some unknown assailants have invaded his daughter’s matrimonial home and mercilessly matcheted her and her 4 years old daughter.
The deputy governor, however, in his response, condoled the grieving family and gave them the assurance that necessary actions would be taken.
The elder sister to the late Sadiyya described her as an enduring and calm person who understood how to manage her marital issues without reporting to third party including her relatives.
She narrated that Sadiyya’s husband, a tailor left his house around 1am for his work and the incident happened to his wife around 4am.
Meanwhile on hearing the sad news of his wife and daughter’s killing, Hakilu Muhammad, the husband collapsed immediately and has been hospitalized at Sir Yahya memorial hospital.
Attempts to reach the spokesperson of the police proved abortive as calls were not answered but it was confirmed by the father of deceased that he and the police evacuated their remains to the hospital before they were eventually released for burials.
