The Informant247 observes that it has been about two months that news of abduction in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has not occupied the cyber space.
The Informant247 also learnt that some elements who have taken abduction of innocent people as business have returned to the area to abduct a Togolese.
The Informant247 recalls that no fewer than four persons were kidnapped in the area between July 16th and 28th in 2022.
Two of the abducted persons were set free following an alleged payment of some amount of money as ransom while the lives of the remaining two victims were taken by their kidnappers after N5 million was paid.
Christopher Bakare, one of the victims, who’s also a farm supervisor at the farm of an ex governor of the state, late Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, was kidnapped on Saturday, 16 July at Jabata in the Surulere Local Government Area of the state.
Baba Rasheed, the owner of a private hospital, was also kidnapped on Friday, 22 July in the same local government area.
Mr. Gbenga Owolabi, a hotelier, and Rachael Abiola Opadele, one of his staff were also abducted at the Abaa area in Ogbomoso on Thursday, 28 July.
The kidnappers have taken the lives of the duo of Owolabi and Opadele following an alleged payment of a sum of five minion naira (N5m) as ransom.
The Informant247 however observes that the abductors have reoccupied the affected area after the break of two months.
A Togolese, who’s identified as Alhaji Yisa Agric, was kidnapped, Monday night at his residence in Agric area in Gbede, Surulere LGA.
The abductors, while trying to record a successful operation, also inflicted various degrees of injuries on some youths who made attempt to save the victim.
The Informant247 gathered that the unknown gunmen who’re suspected to be herdsmen, invaded the affected community at about 10 pm and headed straight to the residence of the victim.
Report has it that the victim is a security guard at a popular farm in Ogbomoso.
It was also gathered that the abductors requested a sum of N10m to set the victim free.
The Informant247 however, learnt that the abducted victim was set free around 11 pm, Wednesday following an alleged payment of an undisclosed amount of money as ransom.
Chief Subaru Akano Nurudeen, the Baale of Gbede, while confirming the incident to newsmen, reaffirmed that the Togolese had regained his freedom following an alleged payment of an undisclosed of money as ransom.
The traditional monarch said, “I heard what you said. It is true. It is Gbede. It is true. A journalist from Ogbomoso has also called me yesterday.
“At about 10 am on Monday, he was kidnapped. But, he has been released around 11 pm yesterday (Wednesday) after they gave them what they want.
“But, he was kidnapped. He is a security guard for Baba Elegbede. He is an old man. He has been there for many years”.
All efforts to reach out to and get a reaction from the spokesperson of the police in the state, Adewale Osifeso, proved to be abortive.
