Subsidy: Be patient with FG, things will get better – Bauchi Gov Bala Mohammed tells Nigerians
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged Nigerians to exercise patience regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s elimination of subsidy on petrol, known as PMS.
He expressed hope that the situation in the country will eventually improve.
Mohammed, a member of the Committee led by Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris, who is responsible for distributing palliatives, made this appeal in Bauchi on Saturday.
He emphasized the need for understanding and cooperation from all Nigerians during this critical time.
DSS alleges campaign of calumny against govt over Emefiele’s detention
The Department of State Services (DSS) has expressed concern about a planned campaign aiming to discredit it and the government.
The campaign is linked to the suspension and investigation of Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to the DSS, certain groups are organizing to gather at various locations in Abuja and Lagos next week.
They plan to hold up signs that depict the DSS and the Federal Government in a negative light.
Additionally, they intend to demand the immediate release of Godwin Emefiele, the ousted CBN Governor.
Supreme Court demands more judges, asks NBA to nominate
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has commenced the process of appointing more judges.
The Informant247 gathered that 21 slots are available, but eight of them needed to be occupied. Some justices retired, resulting in a decrease in the number of slots.
The distribution of the available slots is as follows: North-Central (2), North-West (1), South-East (2), South-South (1), and South-West (2).
The North-East region has no vacancies.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, urged legal professionals and the judiciary to nominate candidates for the appointment.
NASS leadership: Shettima apologises to Nigerian Muslims over comment
Kashim Shettima, the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has tendered his apology for his comment during the race for the senate presidency.
Reports gathered quoted Shettima saying that the most incompetent southern Christian is better than the most puritanical northern Muslim.
Shettima made this statement while advocating for a south-south Christian candidate to become president of the Senate.
Abdulaziz Yari, senator representing Zamfara West and a Muslim, remained a contender till the very end, despite the All Progressives Congress (APC) having nominated Godswill Akpabio for the position.

Olusegun Obasanjo, the former Nigerian President, has revealed that the founder of Boko Haram shared with him that poverty and unemployment drove them into the insurgency in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria.
The ex-president made this statement during the launch of a book titled “Pillars of Statecraft: Nation-building in a changing world,” authored by his daughter, Dr Kofo Obasanjo-Blackshire, in Lagos on Saturday.
Furthermore, Obasanjo warned that if not urgently tackled, the presence of over 20 million out-of-school children in the country would become a breeding ground for more “Boko Haram members of the future.”
He emphasized the need for urgent action to address this issue.
EndSARS: Dokubo accuses Nnamdi Kanu of fueling protests
Asari Dokubo, a former Niger Delta Militant, has revealed that he objected to the End SARS protests in 2020.
In a recent interview with Channels TV, Dokubo described the demonstrations as “madness and nonsense.”
He also accused Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of playing a role in fueling the protests.
