The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on Friday held a closed-door meeting with the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara State, Hakeem Lawal, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Earlier before the meeting, Hakeem Lawal had joined the monarch at the Ilorin Central mosque to observe Juma’at prayers where the Chief Imam, Alhaji Imam Bashir Salihu had offered prayers for him.
Hakeem Lawal who is a special guest of honour for this year’s Durbar ceremony, thereafter proceeded to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin to pay homage.
He was received at the Palace’s court where the Emir prayed for him, before they both went into a closed-door meeting.
Although details of the meeting weren’t made public, it may not be unconnected to Lawal’s gubernatorial aspiration in 2023.
