Tinubu unveils personal income tax calculator for Nigerians
Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, introduced a personal income tax calculator aimed at assisting Nigerians in estimating their tax obligations under the new tax regime slated to commence next year.
In a post on X, Tinubu highlighted that this calculator will enable individuals to compare their projected tax liabilities with their current payments. He emphasized the importance of a fair tax system, stating that it should not penalize the vulnerable or those living in poverty.
“With the new tax laws I recently signed, taking effect from January 2026, we have lifted this burden and created a path of equity, fairness, and true redistribution in our economy,” he expressed.
The president reassured citizens that the Personal Income Tax Calculator demonstrates how the tax reforms will protect low-income earners while promoting progressivity and simplifying compliance.

Additionally, he urged Nigerians to have faith in the country’s future, stating, “Bet on Nigeria to work for you, your family, and your community.”
On June 26, Tinubu signed four tax reform bills into law, effective January 1, 2026. These include the Nigeria Tax (Fair Taxation) Law, the Nigeria Tax Administration Law, the Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Law, and the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Law. The legislation is designed to alleviate the tax burden on Nigerians, restore fairness, and foster inclusive economic growth.
