Suspected kidnappers (gunmen) on Thursday shot a teacher in a failed attempt to allegedly kidnap her and a colleague in Osi, Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.
The Informant247 learnt that the two women are staff of Ikerin Secondary School in Ekiti.
It was further gathered that the women were returning home after the close of work when the gunmen accosted them.
Spokesperson of Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Babawale Afolabi confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
Afolabi said that, “It was around 16:30pm on Thursday when our operatives at Araromi Opin Ekiti Divisional office got a distress call about a failed kidnap attempt and they later were joined by the local hunters and went straight to the scene of the incident.”
He added that as soon as the NSCDC and local hunters got to the scene of the crime the gunmen had disappeared, saying that “one of the two women sustained minor bullet wounds and currently responding to treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the town
“Officers of the NSCDC in the town have been joined by the NSCDC tactical team of operation harmony and the local hunters have begun a manhunt for the miscreants.”
