Saudi contract: Ronaldo to play for Newcastle if they qualify for Champions League

Several reports have claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo’s highly lucrative contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr has a clause that will see the 37-year-old play Newcastle United if they qualify for Champions League next season.

According to marca news, Ronaldo may likely come back to England to join the Magpies if they make the top four at the end of the current season.

This is not unconnected from the ownership of the Newcastle by Saudi Arabian public investment funds.

The takeover of the Tyneside club by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund was completed in October 2021 and the fortunes of the team seems to have changed by moving from relegation zone to battling for top four.
