The Saliu Mustapha Foundation, a non profit organisation chaired by Mallam Saliu Mustapha, the All Progressives Congress candidate, has begun the renovations of some unmotorable roads across suburbs in Kwara State.
In a statement made available by the project supervisor, Engr. Sayi Murtala, the exercise is carried out as reaction to the many demands and plights of communities and associations of the areas.
He disclosed that they have begun to grade and water the surface of the road to reduce the discomforts of the those residing in the affected areas.
Murtala also said that the project will cut across over 50 kilometres of roads and more than 20 communities, which included Oshin, Oke Ose, Ayetoro, Oke Oyi, and Ipako obo.
“We will start with those in critical conditions, whether state or federal, with the hope of ameliorating the sufferings of the residents of the areas,” he said.
He also added that the project will also be complemented by the Kwara state government.
“The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Works will do further palliative works, especially watering to reduce the effect of dust and to further solidify the grounds,” Murtala stated.
While reacting to the new development, a leader in the community in Oshin village, Jimoh Atolagbe, commented the gesture extended by the foundation and the state government to ensure that the road is in good condition.
Atolagbe said: “We are grateful to Saliu Mustapha for making this happen. We have longed for this and we are glad that it is happening.”
He said prayers for Mustapha’s quest to lead Kwara Central Senatorial District in the tenth Senate to be a reality and fulfilled one.
“He has won. We are confident that he will continue these good works after his election in 2023,” Atolagbe added.
