Safety caution: Over 200 unroadworthy Danfo, other vehicles impounded in Lagos
The Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) has successfully impounded over 200 unroadworthy vehicles in a recent enforcement operation aimed at enhancing road safety and reducing accidents attributed to faulty vehicles.
Engr. Akin-George Fashola, the Director of VIS, shared this information over the weekend, explaining that the operation primarily focused on various categories of vehicles, with particular attention to commercial minibuses, such as Danfo and Korope, which have been linked to numerous accidents in the state.
Fashola remarked, “This operation is not restricted to private vehicles alone, as commonly believed. It includes all categories of vehicles that form part of the state’s transportation ecosystem.”
He called on vehicle owners, particularly those intending to use their vehicles for commercial purposes, to ensure that their vehicles meet roadworthiness standards before putting them into service.
“Before commercializing your vehicle, make sure it is roadworthy. You can even visit any of our annex offices for proper inspection before putting it into operation,” he advised.
Fashola emphasized the agency’s commitment to ongoing enforcement efforts to create a safer and more efficient transport system in Lagos.
