In a significant development for Ogbomosoland, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially appointed Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, a distinguished member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as the new Soun of Ogbomoso land.
The announcement came through a statement released on Saturday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola.
Olusegun said that the selection of Pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye followed a meticulous and lengthy process stipulated by law.
In Olusegun’s statement released to newsmen, Governor Makinde extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Soun-elect on his elevation to this revered throne, recognizing the profound responsibilities that come with it.
The Commissioner emphasized that this esteemed position empowers the monarch-elect to play a pivotal role in fostering harmony, understanding, and tolerance among his people.
He added that the appointment signifies a significant opportunity to build on the legacy of his predecessors and further unite the people of Ogbomosoland.
In light of this development, the Commissioner called upon all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso to join hands with the new monarch adding that heir collective efforts will serve to consolidate the achievements and progress made by previous generations in this ancient city.
