The Kwara state Police command has arrested fifty-two persons for various electoral offences during Saturday’s Council election.
The Kwara state commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Ado who made this known to newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin, during a press briefing, said that the electoral offences ranged from possession of dangerous weapons, snatching of ballot boxes, and participating in unlawful protest.
While parading the suspects at the state command, the police commissioner said that they were arrested in different parts of Kwara State during the election.
The police commissioner noted that the case was still being investigated by the police command and that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
He further disclaimed the reports that the police command was working for the ruling party, saying they were only performing their constitutional duties of maintaining peace in the state.
While reacting to questions from newsmen on the killing of two students of the College of Education, Lafiagi. He noted that only two students were killed by the military men and assured that Investigations were still on, promising to apprehend those found involved in the matter.
