The police have arrested about 26 persons in connection with the recent killing and arson which occurred in Ekoli Edda Community, in the Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The police Command also arrested the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
Also arrested was Eni Chima, the former chairman of the Afikpo South LGA.
According to the Ebonyi State Police Command, those arrested may have hands in the incident which happened on December 26.
The Informant247 recalls that on December 26, 2022, 2 persons who included a Police Inspector, lost their lives, while 2 houses were burnt down.
While addressing the press in Abakaliki, the capital of the state, on Monday, the spokesperson of the state police Command, SP Chris Anyanwu said those arrested may have hands in the incident and would be dragged to a court of law.
SP Anyanwu said, “The key actors among the suspects arrested, volunteered useful ‘confessional statements’ that exposed the aggregate of overwhelming findings hereunder outlined:
“The fracas that engulfed Ekoli-Edda on 26/12/2022 ignited at about 1600 hours during a face-off between the security aides of Hon Stanley Okoro Emegha versus a faction of Ekoli-Edda youth believed to be loyalists of Hon Eni Uduma Chima.
