The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 4 suspects over the alleged killing of a man by a mob in Benin.
The police has condemned the manner the some suspected persons took law in their own hands, with no consideration for rule of law.
This was revealed by the spokesperson of the police command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, in a signed statement released in Benin.
The suspects are 19-year-old Emmanuel Igube, 39 year old Matthew Gimba, 30 year old Monday Nathaniel and 20 year old Gabriel Akuba.
Nwabuzor explained that the man whose identity has not yet been revealed was killed by a mob, on Sunday at Iyanamo Community, Off Ekehuan Army Barracks, Benin .
”The victim was allegedly mobbed over an allegation that he stole an unregistered motorcycle.”
He, added that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr Mohammed Dankwara, has equally condemned the manner some suspected persons take laws into their hands in the State.
He further said that the arrested suspects will be thoroughly investigated.
He disclosed that the CP had ordered the movement of the case file from Evbuotubu Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Benin for further necessary next line of action.
