Police set to investigate removal of minor’s eye in Bauchi

The police command in Bauchi State has begun an investigation into the circumstances which triggered the removal of the eye of a 12-year-old boy by some unidentified persons in Kafin Madaki, Ganjuwa local government area of the State.

The spokesperson of the police command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, has confirmed the incident, in a statement released to newsmen on Tuesday.

He revealed that incident happened to Najib Hussaini, a citizen of Kano State, who was a student of Qur’anic school in Kafin-Madaki.

He said the incident happened, December 9, 2022 around 0200hrs at Unguwar Yamma, very close to the school of the victim.

He narrated that two unidentified persons who arrived on a motorcycle lured the small to a corner to assist them call a woman.

The spokesperson said: “They took the victim on their bike straight to an isolated area near Hanyar Gonar Wakili of the same village, where they stopped the motorcycle near a bushy area and forcefully plucked the right eye of the victim and consequently abandoned him in his pool of blood.”

He also narrated that the victim was able to manage himself to a location where some of his colleagues saw him and rushed him to their school teacher.

On hearing about the incident, the Ganjuwa Divisional Police Headquarters hospitalized the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.

The image maker of the police command has on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Aminu Alhassan, implored members of the public to always be conscious of their security and forward information about suspicious actions and movement in their areas to the appropriate security authority.

He said those who carried out the criminal act will be arrested soon.
