Ondo election: voter stabbed at polling centre
A young man whose name was said to be Gboye, has been stabbed with a broken bottle in Ward 4 unit 002 in Ijomu/Obanla.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), however, reported that Gboye, a staunch supporter of one of the major Gubernatorial contestants was stabbed when violence erupted between supporters of competing parties at the polling unit.
Meanwhile, calmness has been restored to the polling centre by the security operatives.
In his reaction to the unfortunate occurrence, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigations, Lanre Bankole, revealed the victim, who was rushed to the police clinic for medical care in Akure, was now stable, and that two suspects had been nabbed by his men in connection with the attack.
He further dispelled insinuation that the gunshots heard within the time of the attack on the individual were from police guns, further giving assurance that in due time, investigations would establish what actually happened.
