NSCDC apprehends 2 suspected rail line vandals in Enugu
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended two persons who were suspected to be vandals of rail lines in Enugu State.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Aloysius Obiorah, has confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday in Enugu by the spokesperson of the command, Mr Denny Manuel.
Obiorah stated that the suspected vandals, 28 year old Onu Chekwube, and 18 year old Okeke Okwudiri, 18, were apprehended on October 10 at Aruokwe village, Oduma in Aninri council Area of the state.
He further said they were apprehended while destroying installations of railway installations which belong to the Nigeria Railway Corporation.
The commandant added that iron pipe, 77 railway bolts and nuts, rig spanner, machete and digger, flat spanner, empty hydraulic acid containers, and two full containers of hydraulic were collected from the suspected vandals.
He explained that the two suspected vandals were apprehended with the backing of some operatives of the state Forest Security Service and hunters.
Obiorah has implored people of the state to help law enforcement agencies with vital information on the perceived criminal activities for prompt action.
The NSCDC commandant also reaffirmed that community based intelligence was very fundamental to get rid of criminal activities in the state.
He also revealed that the suspected vandals would be dragged to court after full investigation.
