The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State says it has commenced cybersecurity training for its officers.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Babawale Afolabi, the training was organised to update officers on cybercrime.

According to the statement, declaring the training open in Ilorin on Wednesday, the State Commandant, Mr. Makinde Ayinla said a lot of cases had been brought to the command on internet fraud and the command needed more hands to tackle them.

The commandant advised the participants to take the training seriously in order to enhance their performance.

“Knowledge is power; the training course is not only for the benefit of the corps, but also for individuals and the nation at large.

“No knowledge is a waste; it will forever be useful to you in the nearest future, therefore, do not think it is just for the benefit of the NSCDC,” he was quoted as saying.

The statement furthered that the training will be focusing on understanding the concept of cybersecurity, why cybercrime is increasing, how to protect organisations against cybercrime, how to become cybersecurity experts and ethical hackers, tracking of phones, and Facebook hacking, among others.
