Not over yet: Arteta keeps faith in Arsenal title race

The Gunners were knocked off top spot in the table for the first time since February after Manchester City beat Fulham on Sunday and Pep Guardiola’s men still hold a game in hand on their rivals.

The top two met at the Etihad last week and it was the reigning champions who emerged victorious, putting them firmly in the driving seat ahead of the run-in.

Mikel Arteta is not giving up on his dream to win the league with Arsenal as he believes his side can still deliver the club’s first title since 2004.

Arsenal were knocked off the top spot on the table for the first time since February after Manchester city defeated Fulham on Saturday.

Even as Pep Guardiola boys still hold a game in outstanding with five more games to go generally for Arsenal, Arteta believes that the race is not over yet.

He said: “We have achieved what it was difficult to achieve and we can still achieve the Premier League because there are five games to go and a lot of things are going to happen still.

“Now the title race is not in our hands anymore. What is in our hands is to try to win the games we have left and the rest is down to City.

He noted the need to focus more and keep working hard in order to win the remaining games.

“What we have to do is forget about what happened last week, learn from it and move on to the next game with a full tilt at home, with our people.

“I know what we were trying to do, what the objective was what we’ve been doing and we still have the nicest part of the season to play with five games to go. But when I still look at it, this is not over.”

Arsenal will face London rivals, Chelsea on Tuesday night football.
