It was all an historical night at the Camp Nou on Friday night when Laliga champions, Barcelona recorded a 1-0 slim win over Sevilla in one of the heavyweights fixture for the week.

It was the first time for Ramos, a former Real Madrid captain would be playing against his old rivals Barcelona since 2020 when he left Laliga.

The Spaniard former Captain was helpless in the 76th minutes of the game when his attempt to block a cross from 16-year-old Lamine Yamal saw the ball rolled over the line into the night.

It was a twist of fate situation and a nostalgic feelings of how Ramos had to play against Yamal who he once held his hand in the tunnel when the Barca young forward was a club mascot in 2016 at just Nine year’s old.

Thanks to the own goal, the result temporarily moved Barca one point clear of Girona, who are second on the table with a game in hand. Sevilla are 12th on the log.

Meanwhile, the match was preceded with a controversy when Sevilla declared that they will boycott the Stadium’s VIP arena due to the ongoing investigation into ‘Negreira case.’

Barcelona are currently under investigation for suspected “active bribery” as part of a probe into an alleged corruption spanning two decades at the refereeing committee where Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira was vice-president.

In their response before the game, Barcelona described Sevilla’s act as an “unjustified and inappropriate attack” on the club.
