In a significant achievement, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced that it has surpassed its revenue targets for the months of July and August.
The Acting Comptroller-General, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, presented the results during his 100 days in office report in Abuja.
Adeniyi reported that in July, the NCS generated N307 billion, followed by an even more impressive N343 billion in August, marking a remarkable 70.13% increase in revenue collection compared to earlier months.
The Acting CG highlighted their dedication to revenue generation, with ongoing revenue recovery review activities contributing an additional eight billion Naira during this period.
He emphasized their commitment to sustaining this momentum and minimizing deviations from targets, especially considering earlier shortfalls in the year.
Adeniyi also addressed the NCS’s achievements in combating smuggling, noting successful interceptions of contraband items, including arms, ammunition, illicit drugs, and other prohibited goods.
He also highlighted the NCS’s efforts in forging stronger alliances and fostering cooperation among stakeholders in the public and private sectors and international partners.
Adeniyi shared their vision for the future, emphasizing a commitment to becoming a more efficient and service-driven government organ that plays a pivotal role in national economic growth and border security.
He concluded by expressing the NCS’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda on economic growth and development, acknowledging challenges but emphasizing their determination to overcome them for better results.
