A popular Tiktoker, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, has been sent to a correctional centre on the order of a Kano State Sharia court sitting in Filin Hoki, Kano.

She was ordered to be remanded after being arrested over offences considered contrary to teachings of Islam and for constituting a threat to people on TikTok.

She was brought before the court for threatening to launch attack on some people and for making public videos whose contents were considered contrary to Islamic teachings and which were capable of misleading members of the public.

The Informant247 recalls that the lady’s arrest was effected following complaints put forward by the Council of Ulama.

She however pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against her.

The judge, Abdullahi Halliru adjourned the matter to February 16, 2023, for further hearing.

The presiding judge also ordered that the Tiktoker be remanded in a correctional centre.

The counsel to Kunya, Barrister Yasir Musa, appealed to the court to send his client to Hisbah custody or the police instead of correctional centre.
