One killed, many injured in fresh Kogi explosion
One person has reportedly died and others injured in an explosion that happened in Okene, the central district of Kogi State.
It was reported that the explosion happened in a gathering of people including masquerades, who were celebrating on the annual Echane festival in Okene on Thursday night.
One Usman Animuko Sani, who witnessed the scenario said that the sound that came from the explosion, affected many people residing in the area.
He added that a man lost his legs while many others sustained various degrees of injuries.
He said a victim died while being transported to Okengwe General Hospital.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, SP William Ayah, while confirming the incident, said that one of the victims gave up in the hospital.
“More details are being awaited from the operatives on the ground,” he added.
