Mike Tyson has vowed to return to boxing if Canelo Alvarez “dares to touch Messi” after the Mexican sent online threats to the football star.
Recall that Canelo had earlier sent a message to Messi in reaction to a video where the seven time Baloon D’or winner was seen matching on Mexico’s jersey after their 2-0 victory over the Mexicans in the last group stage game.
“Did you see Messi cleaning the floor with our shirt and flag????He should pray to God that I don’t find him!!” Canelo, a Mexican Boxer had said.
However, subsequently after the statement, a barrage of defense came up in support for Messi, including the one from Sergio Aguero who would later also be taunted by Canelo.
And while Canelo now seemed to have ‘soft pedaling’ in another statement with apology, boxing legend, Mike Tyson has drop a hints to defend Messi in reaction to the first statement made by the multi-weight world champion
“These last few days I got carried away by the passion and love I feel for my country and made comments that were out of place, for which I want to apologize to Messi and the people of Argentina,” he wrote. “Every day we learn something new, and this time it was my turn”.
Tyson, who is a known to be a Messi fan has now reportedly said such threat on the Argentine may drag him out to the ring.
BBO Sports, via Marca, claim Tyson said: “Someone called Canelo threatened Messi,” before making an aggressive pledge. “If he dares to touch Messi, I will have to return to the ring”
Tyson has famously been spotted in an Argentina No 10 shirt when watching football World Cups in the past including the one signed by late Diego Maradona.
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also earlier joined the conversation and threatened to defend Messi.
“I don’t know who Canelo was but he is a clown, he touches Messi and the next day he is in the after life”. Ibrahimovic said in his reaction.
