The Atlas Lions of Morroco on Saturday continued their impressive run at the World Cup in Qatar as they defeat Portugal to qualify for their first ever semi- final of the World Cup.
Morroco, who had earlier beat Spain in the round of 16 on penalties became the first African nation to achieve the semi-final feat in the 92 years existence of the mundial.
Youssef En-Nesyri’s goal in the 42nd minutes of was all the Walid Regragui’s side needed to saw off the Selecao and book a place in the last four stage of the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.
The resilient Morrocans stood their ground till the end of the game, and even while Walid Cheddira was shown red card in the dying minutes of the encounter, such wouldn’t stop the African side in their bid to make history.
Seeing off the European giants was also possible in the face of a highly spirited fan base, an efficient defensive set up and Yassine Bounou’s performance between the sticks.
The team, who still remain unbeaten in the competition will now be looking forward to reach the final when they take up another challenge in the semis.
Morroco will meet the winner between the match between England and France in the Semi final of the World Cup on Wednesday
