U-17 Women World Cup: Nigeria Flamingos Thrash New Zealand 4-0

 

Nigeria’s Flamingos on Friday bounced back to a winning note in the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup India as they thrashed their counterpart from New Zealand 4-0.

The Flamingos had earlier suffered a 1-2 defeat to Germany on Tuesday while the New Zealand also lost their opening game 1-3 to Chile.

It was Amina Bello that opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 16th minute and Miracle Usani doubled the lead in the 35th minute.

The Coach Bankole Olowookere extended their dominance of the game in the second half, and would in the 75th minute had Taiwo Afolabi smashing home the third goal it.

The Kiwis ran out of motivation and Etim Edidong completed the rout for Nigeria in the 90th minute with a well-taken goal and secure their first win in the tournament.

Nigeria,will now look forward to secure their passage to the next round of the game when they face Chile on Monday afternoon at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Second on the log, Flamingos are second on the log with three points with only goal difference separating them from Chile who also has the same points. Germany maintains the lead after their two games with six points.
