Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, has promised to operate an inclusive governance in the quest to build a world class institution and create atmosphere for academic excellence.
He gave this assurance during a consultative meeting he had with executives of the Students’ Union of the University on Thursday.
The meeting was a demonstration of KWASU management’s avowed determination to involve all stakeholders in its decision making process.
The Vice Chancellor, who reiterated his commitment to students’ wellbeing, said the management had decided to carry along the union in governance of the institution.
He expressed readiness of the management to leverage on the capacities of the students in order to explore opportunities towards moving the University to higher pedestal.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged the student body to come up with ideas and initiatives that could help in expanding its Internally Generated Revenue portfolio and moving the institution forward.
Prof. Akanbi noted that he has been operating open door policy and made probity his watchword in order to create conducive environment for innovation and excellence to thrive.
He, however, charged the students to be good ambassadors of the University at all times and keep fidelity with the words of their school Anthem, which is primed towards making them conscious of a better future.
The Vice Chancellor said he was poised to leave KWASU better than he met it by making real his vision of promoting the highest standards of academic excellence, productive community service, administrative reforms, discipline and human capacity building, infrastructural development, staff/students’ welfare and improved internally generated revenue.
