Kwara wins gold in para table tennis, haul six medals
Team Kwara has wrapped up its Para Table Tennis campaign at the on going 3rd National Para Games in Abuja on a strong note, with Abibat Ibrahim delivering a standout gold medal performance on the final day of competition.
The day began on a challenging note for Kwara in the Women’s Class 4–5 (Sitting) category, as Taiye Oyinloye and Hajarat Abdulmumeen fell short of progressing beyond the semi-finals. Both athletes lost to opponents from Rivers and Lagos States, respectively, but secured commendable bronze medals for their efforts.
The turning point came in the Female Class 8 (Standing) event, where Abibat Ibrahim emerged as the star performer. She edged past her Bayelsa State opponent 2–1 in a keenly contested semi-final before dominating the final against her Abia State rival, winning in straight sets, 2–0, to claim gold.
Ibrahim’s victory stood out as the highlight of Kwara’s campaign, reflecting the team’s determination, skill, and resilience throughout the tournament.
Overall, Team Kwara finished the Para Table Tennis event with an impressive haul of six medals one gold, one silver, and four bronze — demonstrating consistency and competitiveness on the national stage.
